Are Four Growths Around The Thyroid Gland A Serious Cause For Concern?
my name is XXXX. I recently had a ultrasound of my neck focusing on the thyroid. the result was 4 growths ranging in size from 5mm to 1,5 cm. I ma concerned about potential for cancer I am scheduled for an autopsy and follow up with an endocrinologist
I can understand your concern although with incomplete data like age, purpose of doing the ultrasound, any associated medical issues, etc. The ultrasound findings are suggestive of four nodules of varying sizes. There is nothing to worry as the vast majority of thyroid nodules are benign and you need to undergo certain specific tests such as fine-needle aspiration cytology (FNAC) to rule out the potential for cancer. The FNAC will usually tell if a nodule is benign or malignant. So, get this test done on your next schedule appointment with the endocrinologist.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
