Are Gagging, Coughing And Vomiting Post Consumption Of Food Signs Of Acid Reflux?
My grandson has started gagging & coughing and sometimes vomiting when he eats dinner. Could this be like acid reflux? He always has to have catsup on everything and ranch dressing on his salad. It doesn t happen in the morning with his breakfast. He is mentally challenged and 23 and if you ask him anything he just says I m fine now. Should I take him to the doctor? This happens almost every evening for the past few months. Should I try an antacid pill? Sorry I don t have the money to pay for this. That is why I was trying to avoid going to the doctor.
But main problem seems to be your child might try to eat faster while having dinner.Because same symptoms not occur while taking breakfast and lunch. So advise him to eat slowly and calmly when taking dinner.
While taking rest pillow should be put below head to prevent reflux.
If still symptoms increasing then x ray and endoscopy might need for rule out hiatus hernia, diverticulum formation etc.
Take care.
Wish you good health...
