Hi,I am Dr. Prabhakar Koregol (Cardiologist). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I began donating plasma a couple of months ago. During this time my pulse was high several times so I am unable to donate that day. The highest rate was 111. I typically have low blood pressure. I am 48 years old, 5' 8", 186#'s and am relatively healthy. I am concerned as I consume very little caffeine and do not smoke. At what point should I be concerned? I've had a rate over 100 4 times in the last 5 visits.
I would advise you to have an ECG done when your heart rate is high, if it comes back normal, then nothing to be concerned. And if it happens every time when you go for donating plasma, it means that there is some anxiety, which causes elevated heart rate.
Take care
