Are Itchy Rashes On The Body While On Glipizide A Matter Of Concern?
My husband is 79 years and is Type 2 diabetic since 95 as well as having Parkinson s since 2012 . He has these scratch-like marks on his shoulders that itch and heal and re- appear. He also has dark spots on his torso. He scratches his head and ears, too. The doctor didn t seem concerned. It just so happens my niece is Type 2 diabetic and she is beginning to get these marks. The common drug to both is Glipizide. Help!
Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.
Your concern is very right ,through not common side effect but rashes and photosensitive can be caused by gliplazide , so yes there is a possibility that the rash can be caused by the drug , however other causes should be ruled out. i think you can talk to dermatalogist , and express your concern , he would see the lesion and then can know the lesion .
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
