My grandson, 4 yrs old, has had low grade fever for 3 days, nausea, occasional vomiting and now today a slapped cheek appearing rash on left side of face. He was just at emergency room few hours ago. Dx was gastroenteritis and constipation. Could this be fifth s disease and what is treatment?

Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

Yes, what you are describing is classic for fifth disease. There is no treatment. The fever ultimately resolves on it's own as does the rash. No need for concern.
