Are Missing Heart Beats And Elevated Pulse After Exercise A Cause For Concern?
I regularly train by some run/walking and lately experience quite a lot of gas just after this exercise and some missing of heartbeats, my pulse is usually elevated after training to about 100 beats per minute but after resting is in the region of late 40 or low 50. Do I have reason for concern ?
Hi welcome to HCM A resting bradycardia (low heart rate ) is normal in those who involve in regular exercise, known as athletic bradycardia. A raise in heart rate after exercise is a normal physiological change . Bloating also can occur after exercise, normally. A missed beat is often due to some ectopic beat. It's of two types viz. atrial ectopic ( which are almost always benign ( innocent) and ventricular ectopics ( which are also most if the time benign and occasionally problematic. If you are constantly symptomatic, consult your doctor for further evaluation. Most of the time a simple ECG will give a lot of information. Sometimes more tests like holter monitoring may be indicated in establishing a diagnosis.
Thank you
