Is a sudden nose bleed common for pneumonia he s been sick on the 7th day today and he has had a fever the whole time up and down he is on amoxicillin and advile he was in hospital for a day and a night gave the big guns for antibiotics to kick start the whole left lung full on X-ray. He has be shortness of breath sometimes when fever has spiked but his fever hasn t got up to 104 for last two days now it s been around 98-101 which first 3-4 days was average high 104. Thanks
Hi. Thanks for your question and information. Read and understood that the one sided lung is fully affected by pneumonia. But the fever is nicely subsiding but developed nosebleed. Nosebleed is not at all common in pneumonia. In fact this indicates septicemia, one of the reasons for epistaxis. I would advise the following: Go back to the hospital. Get relevant investigations. Get continued on proper medications and an opinion of an ENT Surgeon to find out the exact reason for epistaxis so that proper treatment can be started.
