Are Poor Appetite, Weight Loss, And Diarrhea Due To Issues With The Pancreas?
had pancreatitis 2 weeks ago and was in the hospital, i dont drink have no gall stones, and cholesterol is great. no reason that i know of to have this. also they found a mass on my pancreas. since the hospital visit, ive had poor appatite, loosing weight slowly, watery stools, and 6days late on my period. im 45 and other wise in great health could all these symptoms be caused by my panceras? should i be concerned?
Yes, poor appetite, weight loss, and diarrhea can be symptoms of pancreatic issues, including pancreatitis and pancreatic cancer. While not all masses on the pancreas are cancerous, it is important to rule out pancreatic cancer, which can present with similar symptoms to pancreatitis.
Your healthcare provider may recommend further imaging tests, such as a CT scan or MRI, or a biopsy to determine the nature of the mass. As you are having ongoing diarrhea I highly recommend to stay well hydrated, and follow BRAT diet (banana, rice, apple sauce, toast) until you see your caring doctor.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Albana Sejdini, General & Family Physician
