Are Shock Wave Treatments For Heal Spurs Effective?

I have had many episodes of heal spurs. I have had them injected and have been on a Medrol Pak but this has been an ongoing problem for one in a half years. My doctor said its time to consider surgery and that he would do them both at the same time. This doctor does not do the shock wave treatment. I have a two year old and don t see how surgery anytime soon could be possible. Do you know if the shock wave treatments are that successful.

Hi,
Calcaneal spurs are a very common problem. Here the cause of pain is not the spur itself but it is the inflammation in the surrounding soft tissue caused by the spur which is the reason for the pain.

TREATMENT:

AIM: It is to reduce the irritation of the surrounding soft tissue and thereby reduce the inflammation of the tissue which inturn reduces pain

1) Silicon heel cushion ( to be kept in shoes )
2) MCR Chappals to be used at home
3) do not walk bear foot
4) Every night , pls keep your feet in warm water for about 15 minutes

It takes atleast 3 weeks for u to feel better if u strictly follow the above advice.
