Are Swelling In The Ankles And Blisters Like Hives On The Skin Due To Medication Like Lisinopril, Losartan, Atenolol And Hydrochlorothiazide?

I got a different blood pressure med. I was on Lisinopril 60mg 30 am 30 pm was Prescribed Losartan 100 mg also take hydrochlorothiazide 25mg and Atenolol 50mg. I got a nasty blistery hive skin rash at first, after 6 months I have swollen ankles. Maybe I m allergic to Losartan. Because I never had side effects before. My Blood Pressure hoovers borderline high, with each trio of meds.

Hi,

Yes, swelling in the ankles and blisters like hives on the skin can be side effects of some blood pressure medications, including Lisinopril, Losartan, Atenolol, and Hydrochlorothiazide. You may be experiencing an allergic reaction to Losartan, which could be causing the symptoms you described.

If you are experiencing these symptoms, it's important to speak with your doctor as soon as possible. Your doctor may want to adjust your medication or switch you to a different blood pressure medication that is better suited to your individual needs.

In addition, it's important to continue monitoring your blood pressure and to follow your doctor's instructions for managing hypertension. Lifestyle changes, such as exercising regularly, eating a healthy diet, and reducing stress, can also help to lower your blood pressure and improve your overall health.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Priyanka, General & Family Physician
