I walk a lot to and from doctors appointments and interviews because, I do not have a vehicle and my legs have been very swollen and bruised. I am curious as to what my symptoms are and if I could have diabetes because, it does run in my family and diabetes is very hereditary.
Hello, Thanks for the query. Usually swelling of legs is not a specific symptom of diabetes. The symptoms which are often associated with undetected diabetes include excess urination, excess thirst, excess hunger, unexplained weight loss and tiredness. Still you get your fasting and after food blood glucose tested to rule out whether there is diabetes. Swelling in legs is more associated with high BP and/or kidney related conditions as well as hypothyroidism. Thanks.
