Are Symptoms Of Leg Tremors And Weakness Indicative Of Parkinson S?

My aunt seems to have many of the major symptoms of Parkinson s disease, an MRI does not indicate abnormality, but health professionals don t believe it is Parkinson s. They offer no other explanations for her leg tremors, weakness that makes walking very difficult and unstable, frequent freezing. Whay might cause them to rule out Parkinsons?

Hello and thank you for your question. Parkinson's is a cluster of symptoms including a resting tremor (goes away with movement), bradykinesia (slowed movements), muscle rigidity and gait disturbances. If she has seen a neurologist they may feel that her symptoms do not fit the picture of Parkinson's disease. Neurologists are the specialists that take care of Parkinson's disease so if she has not seen a neurologist that would be the next step. There are many conditions that may cause tremor and weakness. I hope she finds a diagnosis and treatment soon.
Thanks for using HCM.
