Hello,
Treating
atrial flutter with Eliquis,
Amlodipine and
lisinopril is the right choice in your case. It is true that amlodipine can increase the blood levels of Eliquis, potentially raising the risk of bleeding. This is because both drugs are metabolized by the liver enzyme CYP3A4, and amlodipine may inhibit this enzyme slightly, causing Eliquis levels to rise. So, in such cases we recommend careful monitoring for signs of bleeding (e.g., unusual bruising, blood in urine or stool, prolonged bleeding) plus adjusting the dose of Eliquis.
On the other hand, no direct pharmacokinetic interaction has been seen between lisinopril and Eliquis so far, but combining these can increase the risk of bleeding in patients with kidney impairment. Lisinopril, an
ACE inhibitor, can affect kidney function, which may influence how Eliquis is cleared from the body. In such cases, we do recommend monitoring kidney function regularly and watch for bleeding risks.
Furthermore, both amlodipine and lisinopril can lower blood pressure, so using them together can enhance antihypertensive effects, possibly leading to
hypotension (low blood pressure). Blood pressure should be monitored to avoid symptoms like
dizziness,
fainting, or fatigue. In case unusual signs of easily bleeding or dizziness, fainting, or fatigue are noted, please contact with your caring doctor as soon as possible to identify the cause, and manage properly.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
