Are Tongue Burns And Sores Indicative Of Mouth Ulcers?
I had dental work done last week - cavities and a temp. crown. My tongue is now burning and the side of the tongue next to the tooth that needs a crown. Patient first said it is an ulcer. All I know is that it is very sore and burning, hard to talk and eat. Patient first gave me hydrocodone for pain and an ointment for pain. My tongue is burning. I have an appointment with my doctor tomorrow, but I just want to know if you think this really an ulcer. It is Very red.
It looks like the ulcer is due to trauma caused by any sharp edges of the tooth.. An inflamed lesion is painful and due to this there is pain and burning of tongue on that side..
So my suggestion is to consult your Dentist and get it checked so that the problem can be fixed..
For now to relieve pain you can apply Lidocaine gel over it along with a steroid oral paste like Kenalog.. Suck ice to reduce inflammation.. Take Ibuprofen if pain is continuous..
Hope this helps..
Regards..
