Are Weakness In The Legs, Stiffness And Pain Radiating From The Ankles To The Hips, In An 81-year-old, Symptoms Of Pravastatin Withdrawal?
I am 81 yrs old have been on statins for 48 yrs discontunied pravistatin on May 25 this yr weakness in legs, stiffness, pain from ankels to hips. If i don t lift my foot high enought to clear a stair step and hit my toe the pain in my lower leg is extream if i overdue on a day the next day my legs are very tired and sour if i get plenty of rest and do not overdue my legs are almost normal are these symptioms normal statin related? I have been off Paraviostatin for 2 months
Stopping pravastatin or any other statin usually does not cause any problems, and after 2 months I do not think it would be possible that this would be from stopping your statin.
You may be having worsening osteoarthritis or there may be some other medical issue that is causing you to be weaker. I would suggest you schedule an appointment with your doctor for an examination and possibly blood test to try to find the cause of the symptoms.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
