Are Weakness, Severe Chills And A Temperature Symptoms Of A Concussion After A Fall?

My husband is 94 and in general good health. He has felt poorly for the last 2 days with weakness. He took a fall a few hours ago went to bed and has now woken with severe shaking chills. He is covered with 2 blankets. His temp is 96.4. Could he have a concussion?

Neurologist 's  Response
Hi,

In a 94-year-old who has fallen and with the symptoms you mention my concern is that he may have suffered an internal injury that is not obvious to the layperson.

He most certainly could have suffered a concussion and may be manifesting symptoms of bleeding into the brain as well. I recommend you take him to the hospital by calling 911.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

General Surgeon Dr. Shinas Hussain's  Response
Hi,

Better to take him ER and get a CT scan done. In intracranial bleed you might experience fever.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
