Hi,

In migraine patients there may be found what you called spots in the brain, so your doctor may be right. They are benign in nature, no reason for panic. It is a little unusual for them to appear as early as 16 though, there may also be other causes such as some infection in childhood or low oxygen in childbirth which may cause such changes (nothing needs to be done in that case, it's an old non-active remnant.) Also, a neurologist must make sure there aren't other manifestations on a clinical exam to indicate other possible active causes such as multiple sclerosis.

So for the moment having seen a neurologist and had the MRI you have done the necessary initial steps. I would suggest follow-up visits to make sure no new symptoms appear and control MRI in a year.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Olsi Taka,
Neurologist
