Artist. Severe Pain In Corner Of Left Eye, Reduced Color Perception. Cause?

Hello I have experienced sever pain in the corner of my left eye that it felt as if i was stabbed. I'm an artist and I thought it was eye strain but this has happened a few times in the last few months. I have also notice that my color perception
in my right eye is about 30% off (that is less intensity). The cold in my left appear to be much more saturated.
Could you please be so kind as to tell me what could be the cause.
Thank you,
Michele

Ophthalmologist 's  Response
Hello,
It seems from the history you have provided you are having pain in the eye along with reduced colour perception.
Pain in the eye can be because of infection or inflammation like stye or hordeolum and it usually responds to antiinflammatory drugs and analgesics.

However your second complaint of decreased colour perception needs evaluation. As colour vision is affected in diseases of optic nerve it needs to be evaluated by a ophthalmologist.

Thank you
