Bad Smell Causing Sore Throat, Chest Tightness. Prescribed Prednisone, Albutenol. Recovered From Breathing Problem. Should Continue Medication?
I am just coming out of the hospital, I went there because I was having difficulty breathing at work. I moved into a new apartment last Saturday, and I noticed a smell that after a while gets to me. I woke up every night since then with sore throat, and by yesterday I noticed a tightness in my chest, when I wake up in the morning it feels like someone has strangled me all night. The hospital gave me a prescription for prednisone and albutenol. While I was at the hospital I received an injection of methylprednisone(which made me feel really good) felt easier to breath. My question is the doctor gave me 3 days prescription of predisone, is it likely after I see my primary this week that she will prescribe more of this? I am airing out the apartment around the clock and it appears to be getting better each day!

This is a common problem when we change a place and into a place which was closed for a long time.
You will require more of steroids ie prednisolone is difficult for me to say as it depends on the condition ie examinbation of the chest that you will require later or not.
But normally prednisolone is given for more days not for just 3 days .So i suppose you will require it for more days like a 10 days or 15 day course.
In addition you can take monteleukast and antihistaminics , to decrease the allergic response .
