Hi. I have been playing football and i have gone over on my ankle bending it outwards and heard and felt 3 loud cracks. Now the vein passing over my ankle has become majorly popped up. There is lots of pain and is starting to swell up. Broken or maybe some sort of ligament damage

Orthopaedic Surgeon, Joint Replacement 's  Response
Hello,
Thanks for your query.

From description it seems soft tissue injury or ligament injury. If proper immobilisation is not given at the time of injury, healing of tissue or ligament might get hampered.
I suggest you to consult an orthopaedician nearby for a detailed examination. You may get the MRI of the area affected under his/her guidance. You can take anti-inflammatory drug like motrin to reduce pain and inflammation. Avoid putting weight and rest well.

I do hope that you have found something helpful and I will be glad to answer any further query.
Take care
