Black Spot On Scalp. Will The Scab Fall Off?

Hi! I have an 8 and a half month old son. About two months ago a black spot appeared on his scalp . Slightly raised. At first seemed kind of blue like maybe the veins were visible but soon became scabby. Expected the scab to fall off but it hasn t. Is just black, the size of a pen tip, and doesn t seem to bother him. What could this be? Thanks in advance :)

Hi,

Welcome to HCM,

With little history, it seems that your kid might be having impetigo contagiosa.

Initially there may be small elevated lesion with infection, then due to healing process, it might convert to scab.

So, do not worry, it may go away in few days without treatment.

Still, you contact dermatologist for firm diagnosis.

Antibiotic in proper dose and local application of antibiotic cream might improve the condition.

Cleanse the scalp with mild savlone with water.

I hope you got my answer.

Thanks.
