it may be due to exfoliation of the skin or seborrhic in nature
apply moisturizer lotion twice a day
if scale are large and thick salicylic with mild steroid lotion work well
better to consult dermatologist
Hello Emily, Welcome to HealthcareMagic Forum.
They are nothing but Ephilides which are small, hyperpigmented macules on the sun exposed skin of fair skinned individuals, they can appear anywhere on the body including the scalp. They occur if there is focal increased melanin in the skin and tend to darken in summer with increased sun exposure and lighten in the winter. When present in large numbers, they indicate excessive photo damage. They are benign and harmless and treatment is usually not required. Consult a Dermatologist if you want to and get his opinion because if required Topical bleaching creams or cryotherapy should help. Do not let him play outside in the sun and when you take him out let him use a cap or umbrella. He should be limiting his scalp and skin exposure to the sun.
Good Luck and Take Care.
