Bleeding After Intercourse For A Year. History On Endometriosis, Problem With Cervix. Cause Of Bleeding?

not sure you want to get into this one because there seems to be a lot going on with me at the moment. my main query is that I have had bleeding after intercourse for about a year now and have had many checks and told I had endometriosis and had treatment only to be told this was not actually the case, I have since found out and seen on a screen that I have some kind of trauma on my cervix that has not healed properly and bleeds when things touch it. I am kind of at my wits end with this thing and wondered if this scarring can cause severe pain during intercourse as well and if this issue can be healed, both the scarring and the pain???????????

Hi,

Endometriosis rarely causes bleeding after intercourse.
The commonest cause for such complaints is either a cervical polyp [small non cancerous tumor of the cervix] or cervical erosion [ an infection and swelling of the cervix ] that bleeds on touch.

A per speculum examination, that is direct examination of the cervix by a gynecologist helps to identify these problems.
If a patient with similar complaints comes to my clinic, I examine her and then do a pap smear and colposcopic biopsy of the cervix [ examine the cervix under a magnifying scope ] as sometimes the erosions can have a developing cancer that needs to be ruled out.

If the biopsy shows an infection the first line treatment is local antibiotic and antifungal pessaries or creams. Some erosions do not heal with these and the next step is to cauterize them, that is burn them using heat or cryotherapy using cold.
So you need to get examined and a pap smear along with colposcopy must be the next line.
Hope this helps you, Thanks for using healthcare magic.
