Bleeding And Clear Fluid Discharge From Nose, No Headaches, Tenderness. Is That Serious?

Hi, Yesterday my 2yr daughter went to cuddle the pillow and landed very hard on my face/nose. I instantly heard a loud bang through my head and my nose started really hurting, my eyes started watering uncontrollably and i started crying in pain. My nose started leaking liquid straight away which is normal when i cry, there was a slight orange blood stain leaking from my right nostril. Since than my nose has been abit sore to touch, there is no bruising but i have leaked a misty clear fluid from my nose about 4 times, it doesnt feel like a snotty nose, it feels like a nose bleed, but its not, it only last a few seconds and there will only be 2 drops off fluid. Its happened from both nostrils, apart from that i feel fine, no headaches nothing but i am starting to get worried as the liquid really doesnt remind me off snot or anything like that, my nose feels very tender when i sniff hard too! should i be concerned? thank you Hayley

A blunt nasal injury tends to rupture the tiny, thin, tender blood vessels in the nasal cavities. Hence, the bleed, which usually stops in 2-3 days' time.

Fluid discharge is nothing but the normal secretions that occur constantly in the deep inside of the nasal cavities. Any blunt injury, offensive odor, dust or a foreign body inside the nasal cavity causes reflex increase in secretions formation. The fluid discharge too will stop in 2-3 days' time.

However, the pain may last longer, but use of anti-inflammatory pain-killers will keep it under control.
