my grand mother has a problem. she is bleeding while she goes for toilet, and the blood gone out a lot and after a month of alopathic treatment there is no result. they can t say why the bloods come every time of toilet.and she is going weaker day by day. so please help me . her age is about 69. please help doctor ..........
Hi susimmukul,
Rectal bleeding needs to be evaluated with a colonoscopy (camera through the anus) to make sure your grand mother does not have any colon cancer or large colon polyp. The most common cause of bleeding during bowel movement is hemorrhoids, however the only way to have the most certainty is with the colonoscopy. Other alternatives test exist such as Computed tomography colonoscopy, barium enema, etc, but are not as good, and you cannot do anything about it, so again I recommend a colonoscopy.
The fact that she feels weak, may indicate that she is anemic due to bleeding during bowel movements.
Hope that helps. Let me know if you have any further questions.
Hi, Susimukul,
At this age bleeding from anal canal should not be neglected.
There might be bleeding pile, fissure in ano or any space occupying lesion in large intestine.
Consult Gastro enterologist and get investigations done.
Ok and bye.
