Bluish Grey Pigmentation On The Neck Due To Auto Immune Disorder. Patches Spreading On The Face. Any Treatment?

Good Evening doc... I developed pigmentation on my neck about 2 years ago and was told it's an auto immune disorder with no cause or cure and given hydroquinone ointments and told to put sunblock. As I didn't want to use harsh chemicals I tried homoepathy but it did not work. Now the pigmentation is dark blue-grey on the whole neck and spreading to face in patches. Any hope for me ?

Thanks for your query. This is a kind of pigmentation disorder, which is autoimmune in nature known as lichen planus pigmentosus. There is no definite treatment for this kind of pigmentatory disoder. Depigmentation creams like Hydroquinone or Chemical peels will reduce slightly the pigmentation. Sunscreens of broad spectrum nature should be used strictly, atleast 20 minutes before sun exposure on sunexposed areas and repeated every 3 hours.
