Bone Age Test For Child Shows Advanced Bone Age. What To Expect About Adult Height?

My son is 8.3 years old.on our annual physical checkup , our pediatrician ordered a bone age test. The test results came back saying he has a bone age advanced by 3 years. His height and weight also corresponds to that of an average 11 year old. I am concerned about his adult height. I am 5.4 ft and husband is 5.11ft tall. we are yet to make an appointment with the endo. please advice what to expect??

1. as the test shows difference between bone age and chronological age of your child,(i.e. his skeletal system is maturing fast) thus probably it is a growth disorder unless your Pediatric endocrinologist feels differently.
2. He will run some tests for Growth hormone, thyroid profile.
3. meanwhile if he was born pre maturely, in these cases, this test is a poor indicator of age. (check with hospital records)
