Bone Spur, Following A Fall. Regular Exercise And Massages Has Improved Sensitivity. Complete Recovery Possible?

Hello,
I have a bone spur due to early injury when I was thirteen was bucked off a horse. I have had numerous massages over the years chiropractic ,bowen ,physio and many other modalities I also go to the gym and keep healthy walking ect. I'm seeing a chi gong massage therapist at the moment he has said I have a spur in the L4 L5 region .Is there going to be regeneration if I continue to massage as the nerve's are fairly sensitive when massaged, around my buttocks area especially. I did many years ago have nerve pain down to my ankles at one stage but over the years have learned how to treat my back myself

Orthopaedic Surgeon 's  Response
Hello,

I have studied your case.

As per your symptoms I will advise you to do MRI spine.

epidural steroid shots remains a good option, which can be repeated again though you have taken in past.

Till time you can take analgesic and neurotropic medication.
And remember; avoid lifting weights, Sit with support to back. You can consult physiotherapist for help.
Physiotherapy like ultrasound and interferential therapy will give temporary relief.

I will advise to check your vit B12 and vit D3 level.

Hope this answers your query. If you have additional questions or follow up queries then please do not hesitate in writing to us. I will be happy to answer your queries.

Wishing you good health.

Take care
