Broke Ankle. Fractured Tarsus Bone. On Stabilizing Boot. Swollen, Sore And Bruised. Should I Rest It?
I broke my ankle a week ago. I have two small fractures of the tarsus bone. I am wearing a stabilizing boot. My doctor said it is not a "weight bearing injury". I have been walking on it. It is still swollen and very bruised and really sore. I have a burning tingling sensation. Should I be resting it, still taking pain medication? My whole ankle and foot and lower leg are very black and blue.
Hello. Thanks for writing to us. In case of a broken ankle, it is best to provide rest to the injured ankle to avoid any swelling and an early healing. Try to avoid weight bearing and keep your foot elevated on two pillows while resting. I hope this information has been both informative and helpful for you.
