I was diagnosed with bronchitis last month. All my symptoms cleared up except for an occasional productive cough .Last night, I started feeling really tired and thirsty, woke up this morning feeling a lot of chest congestion But I m not coughing. I feel lightheaded and my heart is pounding/racing as well. How do I know if and when I should see a doctor?
Hi,
Since you are feeling chest congestion it would be advisable to visit a doctor. A chest xray would be required the least. Medications can be started if there are any signs of infection. If you are having repeated episodes of bronchitis then you need to visit a Pulmonologist/ chest physician and get investigated in detail. A pulmonary function test might be required. Inhalers and other oral medicines may be required to prevent such episodes. Also smoking is a risk factor if present.
