Brown Discoloration In Groin Area, Looks Bruised. Is It A Sign Of Diabetes Or Malignancy??

I have brown discoloration around the groin area. It is much darker and yellowish brown in color, almost like it looks bruised.
I looked it up and it said it could be a sign of major diseases, like diabetes or malignancy. I jog often and eat healthy, so I don't think it's diabetes. I do take lamotrigine 150 mg daily though.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,
Dark skin around the groin area indicates a skin disorder called acanthosis
It is usually a sign that person is dangerously overweight and has insulin resistance.

It typically occurs in individuals younger than age 40 and is associated with obesity and endocrinal  disorders such as hypothyroidism, acromegaly, polycystic ovary disease, insulin-resistant diabetes, or Cushing's disease.
The basic cause is elevated insulin levels in blood.
Some medications like anti cholesterol medications or systemic steroids can also result in dark pigmentation.
When seen in individuals older than age 40, this disorder is commonly associated with an internal malignancy, usually adenocarcinoma, and most commonly of the GI tract or uterus and  less commonly of the lung, prostate, breast, or ovary. The stomach is the most common site.
You must consult a doctor and get thoroughly investigated to look for the cause and treatment.
Thanks
