Bruise On Left Arm After Removing Appendix. Is It Normal Or Should I Get Checked?

My son had his appendix removed one week ago. They had to try about 8 times on his left arm to find a vein (eventually they used his right arm). Yesterday he noticed an oblong bruise (about 3 inches long) on his left arm. Is delayed bruising like this normal or should he have it checked out.
Thank you!

Hi,

I can understand your concern for bruise on left arm of your son after removing appendix.

Bruise in your son's case is due to the rupture of blood vessels a the local area. In most of the circumstances these bruises are normal in its appearance at this time. So you should not be worried about the same.

If at all any new bruise occur at any new site then you can consult the treating doctor for the same.

The marks will fade by itself in next 14 days, so there is no need to apply anything over the same.

Hope these information will relax you.

Take care.
