Bumps In Legs After Standing For Long, Tender To Touch, Painful. Underlying Cause?
Every time I run or stand up for a very long time, the lower outsides of my legs get 2 bumps... I have always had them. Well, yesterday, while doing my long run(8 miles) I noticed they were bigger and as I touched it, I noticed they were tender to touch but they were kind of painful.... I have a 10K this weekend so I would like to really know what is going on. Please help!
Hi, the typical history seems that you have varicose veins. Varicose veins are the enlarged superficial loosened and twisted veins more often seen in the legs. These are seen in people who often stand and with positive family history. Consult a surgeon and he will test you and treat you with simple stockings or can suggest you a surgery. Ruling out deep vein thrombosis [ blood clot in the vein ] which is also a cause for varicose veins is important to prevent complications like pulmonary embolism. If this is diagnosed you will be given anti coagulant treatment. Consult a General surgeon and no need to panic as this is a common problem.
