Burning Sensation In Stomach, Hard Mass In Stomach. Taking Tums, Vicodin. What Could Be This?

Hi Doctor Siegel, um my question may be unrelated to your specialty but Ill ask anyways. Since March Ive been waking up in the middle of the night with a severe burning sensation in my stomach and up my back on my rib cage. This is also accompanied by a big hard mass in my stomach to the right of my belly button. Literally a half bottle of Tums, Vicodin (that I take for kidney stones) and a bottle of water seem to help. I got it again 19 hours ago and it is not going away and is also making me extremely nauseated. Was wondering if you had any insights. I thought ulcer caused by H Pylori at first but I read that with a lump it could ulcerative colitis??

Hello,
Thanks for the query to H.C.M.Forum.
Pain in abdomen ,nausea , sudden wake up in the night , burning sensation all are an indication of hyper acidity ( may be peptic ulcer).
Endoscopy will rule out the erosion or ulcer in stomach.
However tums and vicodin may develops gastritis .
In your query you mentioned a lump on right side above belly button , so either it may be due to abdominal distension due to gastritis or indigestion.
Ultrasound will reveal the exact nature of disease.
Hope I have answered your question.
If further any question I will help.
Good luck.
Dr. HET
