Can Antihistamines Treat Hearing Loss Caused By Ear Drum Retraction?

I was told by a doctor this week that both my eardrums are retracted. I feel like I am under water and was told to take an antihistamine, which I am doing , but it is getting worse and I can hardly hear out of my left ear today. What do you recommend?

Hello,
When the tube blockage is there ie the eustachian tube which connects the middle part of ear to the back of nose; then only antihistaminic will not help you need to take decongestant tablets like phenylephrine and decongestant nasal drops like xylometazoline for topical application in nose. Mucolytic tablets like ambroxol or anti inflammatory enzymes like trypsin, chymotrypsin or serratiopeptidase helps a lot.
In addition steam inhalation helps a lot.
Go for a walk daily, this will secrete natural decongestant in the body.
This blockage take 2 weeks to resolve completely.
In doubt do reply.
