Can Armour Thyroid Be Substituted With GTA Forte II While Having Hyperthyroid?

Hi, I am currently on Armour Thyroid 15 mg day, and would like to switch to GTA-Forte II from Biotics REserach company, using porcine glandular concentrate 20 mg, as my sister did. A natural product. I have hyperthyroid and recently had parathyorid surgery removal of one enlarged. Edie

You are concerned about taking Armour thyroid and switching it to GTA-Forte II. Armour thyroid is a derivative of pork thyroid placed into a pill and gives a person with low thyroid replacement for an underactive thyroid gland. The GTA-Forte II is also a pork thyroid derivative but the thyroid hormones have been removed from the product. This concerns me because a person with low thyroid who no longer takes the supplemental hormone like Armour thyroid can become sick with something called myxedema. This can potentially cause severe heart problems. I do not recommend stopping your Armour thyroid. You could potentially put yourself at risk for complications
