Can Artemether Or Lumefantrine Be Given To A 6GPD Deficient Patient Suffering From Malaria ?
I am 6GPD deficient and my son is also 6GPD deficient. He is 1 and half year old. He is suffering from fever . Doctor has given him anti malaria medicine. My question is that is a 6GPD deficient patient can have malaria, and, if yes then can he be given Artemether / Lumefantrine to curb it.
hi
g6pd deficiency can protect malaria but partiallly only not ccomplete.
only primaquine has serious hemolysis effect
other anti malarial are safe but to be used under observation to cope up any emergency.
artemether and lumefantrine are safe to use
