Can Atorvastatin Cause Joint Pain?

I started atorvastatin (20 mg once a day) three months ago to treat elevated cholesterol . Shortly after starting, I began to experience joint pain every day (hips most intensely, but also shoulders, wrists, elbows) and also began to experience lower back pain when arising in the morning. My original prescription will run out in about a week, and I am considering discontinuation to see if the joint pain diminishes or stops.
