Can Atorvastatin Tablets Cause Muscle Spasms In Lower Limbs?

I am on atorvastatin--80mg. Have been for quite awhile. The last couple of months I have been getting muscle spasms in my right leg. I feel it is severe when it hits me. Was wondering if this medication could be the cause. I fear that I may be driving sometime and it will hit me. Don t know when they will hit me? Should I see my MD. and was thinking about cutting my pills in half. What do you think?
