Doctor, My wife takes azilect 1mg for her Parkinson s Disease and Midrodine 5mg for low blood pressure. She has been taking these two medications for at least 7-8 months. Today our insurance company said that there was a potential serious interaction between these two medications and would not cover both of them. My question is what is the are concerned about? Thanks, Tom D,
Hi & Welcome. I appreciate your concern for your beloved wife. These medications may be taken together under close monitoring.
Used in patients who have symptoms of low blood pressure Midodrine when taken along with Azilect may cause increased heart rate and BP.
Although she has been taking these medications together for the last 7-8 months however, she needs frequent monitoring by her doctor to safely use both medications.
Hope this answers your query.
