Hello, and I hope I can help you today.
Any type of antifungal medication inserted into the vagina is safe to use after the first trimester of
pregnancy. So the medication your doctor recommended for you, Candit V-3, is just suppositories of the antifungal medication called
clotrimazole, which will not pose any harm to the fetus.
However, having yellow-green vaginally discharge in later pregnancy can be caused by the
hormonal changes from pregnancy alone. As you approach the third trimester especially, the vaginal walls become much thicker as does the
cervix, and more mucus is secreted preparing for the lubrication necessary for birth.
So as long as you do not have
vaginal itching, it is a possibility that your discharge may not just be due to recurrent vaginal infections.
If the medication that your doctor suggested to take, meaning the candidate V3, does not relieve your symptoms, I would suggest that you encourage your doctor actually perform a vaginal Dragon off examination to make sure that you indeed have an infection and that the medication the doctor gave you was the correct treatment.
I hope that I was able to adequately answer your question today, and that my advice was helpful.
Best wishes for the rest of the pregnancy,
Dr. Brown
