Can Carvedilol, Simvastatin And Lisinopril Be Taken Together?

My husband had an aortic valve replacement and single bypass, almost a month ago. He has been on Carvedilol (Coreg). At his appointment today with the diagnosing cardiologist (who is monitoring his ICD), just added two medications to those he s already taking, apparently telling him to stay on the existing ones as well. The two meds are: Simvastatin and Lisinopril. I m concerned about the use of both of those along with the Carvedilol. Should I call and ask the doctor s office about that? I m just wondering if he meant to replace the Carvedilol, or if the three are OK together.

Hi,

I've gone through your query and I want to reassure you that this combination is considered to be safe. Using these drugs together is common practice and there are no serious concerns - besides the side effects of each drug individually. No interactions are expected from the combination.

I can't say whether your doctor wanted to substitute Carvedilol or not but I can assume that he didn't. Carvedilol is a beta-blocker and beta-blockers are commonly employed in patients with coronary heart disease (as the bypass surgery implies).

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
