Hi,I am Dr. Amitkumar Sharma (Internal Medicine Specialist). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Can duphaston cause leg cramps. I started taking duphaston just today morning. And after 2-3 hours, it started giving me cramps on my knees. I am on day 21 of my my cycle. And from yesterday i have mild leg cramps. Is it due to the tablet or anything like implantation or pms?
Since you started having leg cramps yesterday before taking Duphaston, it cannot be the cause and leg cramps is not a recognised side effect of duphaston. The usual side effects are migraines/headache, nausea, menstrual disorders and breast pain/tenderness, bloating/weight gain. Usually electrolyte abnormalities and low calcium in the blood are the main cause of leg cramps. When my patients have frequent leg cramps, I check their vitamin D level, calcium and electrolytes. If abnormal correct and if not use a supplement rich minerals and it corrects the problem. Take Care Dr Noble Zachariah
