Can Enbrel Be Taken For 8 Weeks For Rheumatoid Arthritis?
Hi my aunt has Rheumatoid arthritis, she was prescribed Enbrel for 8 weeks because they say it’s severe. What can you advise about this medication, can she just use it for the 8 weeks or it will be longtime? It’s very expensive she can not afford it longterm
Enbrel is an efficient medicine and if it is working well in your aunt then the treating doctor may want to treat her with the same for a longer period. However, if it is costly and she's unable to afford it she can take NSAIDs or Methotrexate, one after food. These also effectively treat rheumatoid arthritis. Sometime, long time use of Enbrel may cause cancer or fast-growing lymphoma and therefore, that is always avoided.
Regular exercising and stretches at the joints can help reduce pain and inflammation while keeping the joints lubricated. She should take balanced home-made food and include anti-inflammatory food in her diet. Warm compress and pain-relieving sprays are helpful. She should maintain healthy weight. She should do daily walking.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
