Hi,I am Dr. Amitkumar Sharma (Internal Medicine Specialist). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I went to my dr today. He diagnosed bronchitis. I have a low grade fever , nasal congestion and a chronic cough. He called in a cough syrup that costs $50. I am on SSDI and the script was too expensive. My daughter in law is a Hospice RN. She suggested I take Benadryl for my cough which helps my allergies. I slept well last night for the first time in weeks. Can I also take Excedrin for my fever? Are the two meds compatible?Thank you for your help...
These medications can be used in together, there are no known significant interactions.
If the cough is wet, you may also want to consider the use of a mucolytic agent. Eg are bisolvan, mucomyst, guaifenesin One of these would help to break up the mucus so that it can be more easily expelled.
I hope this helps
