Can Ferrous Sulphate Cause Persistent Headaches?

Hello, my 17 year old daughter is supplementing with ferrous sulphate 325mg 2x/day. She is getting headaches every afternoon to evening, almost migraine like, could this be the supplement? What might another choice of iron to use be that won t cause this side effect?

Hi there,
Thanks for using HCM.
Headache is not a side effect of Ferrous sulphate.
So your daughter can continue taking ferrous sulphate.
There might be some other cause for headache.
Tension headache is the most common cause of headache. Migraine is another common cause.
You can consult a neurologist for evaluation.
Regards.
