Can GERD Cause Skin Issues?

I have had GERD and treated with PPI s for 20 years. I spent a year weaning off and was discovered on a routine endoscopy that I had esophageal ulcerations. Went back on PPI s. Three months ago I developed a skin issue with diagnoses from impetigo/MRSA to dermatitis, etiology unknown. I have not had a biopsy as they disappear within a few days before an appointment is available with dermatologist. Skin is extremely hot, red, slightly itchy, painful, almost like a mosquito bite. After 9-10 MD visits, I m no further ahead. Just frustrated. Energy level greatly diminished. Two weeks ago I was diagnosed with a torn Achille s tendon. I had been on a week of antibiotics when they thought it was impetigo. Is there a connection between these health issues ? I would still like to explore a way to wean off the PPI s in a different way that may be successful. GERD/skin issues/Achille s = any connection ? I m a relatively healthy 76 year old female otherwise!!!!

Hi,

As you explain the history, no I don't think there is a relationship between all these disorders. GERD doesn't cause skin damages.

Hope I have answered your query.
