Can HIV Be Transmitted Through Used Razors?

hi, yesterday I had my hair cut. When the hair dresser was finishing she took a razor to shave my neck. Just before doing it, she accidentally cut her arm with the razor. Then she started to shave me with the same razor. I did not know what to do. Then she finished. Now I am worried about this fact. Can I get HIV or any other disease because of her?

Hello, Thnx to contact us. If I am your treating doctor I would like to advice you that you should first carry out the screening test of HIV for barber, if he is free from the infection you should not worry for it. I also want to add if the cut was fresh and it is applied to you directly for shaving there are more chances of you getting infected with the HIV. Apart from HIV you are also prone to get infected with the other transfusion transmitted infections like Hepatitis B virus, Hepatitis C virus, CMV etc. If you have anything else to ask please contact me. Hello, Thnx to contact us. If I am your treating doctor I would like to advice you that yes you are at risk of transfusion transmitted infection. This infections are HIV, Hepatitis B & C. if you have taken the primary precaution like washing the part with soap water the chances of getting you HIV will decrease.
