I live in Republic of Korea and sometimes go to the public bath (sauna) which is a usual thing for people to do. Today I went there and I went into the steam room. As I walked in I notice what could have been the some urine on the floor at the door. (I have read the urine can contain low levels of hiv.) (I asked one of the attendants if it was urine later, but he said it was probably the smell of sweat.) He was cleaning this small steam room with water and soap shortly after I had been in there. I don't think I stepped in it and I jumped over it when I went out. I have dry feet and I don't I have very big cracks in my feet at the moment. I heard the Hiv can survive at 98.6 degrees give or take a degree outside the body. (I am wondering if the virus could survive longer in a steam room in a puddle of urine.) I read even urine on an open sore would probably not transmit. I don't know who to really believe. Looked at various sources on the internet.
I have to be honest with you that I am ODC and often worry about getting infections.
I just had my bi-annual check up including HIV combo test and the PSA test and everything is fine.
I am really upset about this incident today. I am on medication now because of my obsessiveness which was diagnosed 7 years ago after I got scared over receiving tetnus innmoglobin.
Another incident happened in my school where I thought I used a toothbrush after evidence of mice being in my desk drawer. I worried about Hanta virus (which is a different form in Korea than the one in North America.)
No risk of getting HIV through urine on floor as HIV virus can not survive room temperature for so much time. Also it does not transmit through urine. Known mode of transmission are either blood, semen or mother to child . So i do not think you should be worried about transmission to you. Take care, avoid getting stress. Hope you will live a long and infection free life.
