Hi,
Welcome to HCM.
As far as STDs were concerned, you had tested 7 weeks after the high risk contact and results came negative means that the chances of getting STD is unlikely. But the test for HIV may have to be repeated 12 weeks after the high risk contact to get a more conclusive result.
There is every chance for the one partner remain negative from STD/HIV in spite of a regular contact for years with the infected partner and they are called as Sero-discordant couple (nearly 30-40% remain so).
So nothing to worry at present and try to stick to protected sex in future to prevent unnecessary mental tension.

Hello. Thanks for writing to us at healthcaremagic

This test is an antibody based test for detecting antibodies to HIV 1 and 2.
Most of those who are infected with HIV develop circulating antibodies with a month of infection and therefore, this test is a highly specific and sensitive test at approximately a 1 month after risky sexual encounter.
Since you tested negative at 7 weeks after having unprotected sex therefore most likely you are safe and likely to remain so.
However, I would suggest a repeat test at 12 weeks to cover for the window period of detection of HIV. That should be taken as conclusive and put matters to rest.

Regards
